I hate to be the lone dissenter here but this machine is not worth the price, in my opinion, because it's a hassle to maintain and you have to be so precise when cooking in it. I wish I had bought a simpler rice cooker like the one Panasonic makes. From the Amazon reviews that cooker seems to be a good one.
This thing makes good-tasting rice but it's a hassle to clean if you had something erupt in it. I got lazy after doing a few rice porridges and this morning I turned it on and pretty soon the whole house smelled like smelly socks! It took me awhile to figure out it came from the cooker. Turns out there's all this dark green mushy mold/fungus growth right under where the steam vent is. I've been popping out the inner lid and rinsing it but the last couple times didn't go after the cover underneath the removable inner lid and I think that's the reason the stuff festered and grew. So do be aware of this and be sure to clean the thing thoroughly each time you use it.
