This is one of those devices (like the Musso 4080 Lussino Dessert Maker (i.e., an ice cream maker) here on Amazon) that you just can't believe anyone would spend that kind of money for, UNTIL you actually try it. This "Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 5-1/2-Cup Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker and Warmer" simply transforms rice and elevates it to a higher plane of existence. There's no way to compare rice cooked in a pot to what comes out of this rice maker. We like rice. We've been making it and eating it fairly regularly for years. The same rice we used in a pot is entirely different (and delicious) when we cook it in this. After seeing how good our normal rice was in this thing, we tried a batch of brown rice (I've hated brown rice since the dawn of time). Even brown rice cooked in this rice maker comes out excellent. Amazing.
The downside, of course, is the price. You just stare at it and go back and forth over whether or not plain-ol-rice is worth that amount of money. Well, it is.
